Interview with Avinash Pappu, Senior Recruiter, West Coast, 1 year 8 months at Harvey Nash, Over 10 years in recruitment

Tell us more about your business, how many people, what markets do you focus on?

I have been into West Coast recruitment right from the beginning and started working for T-Mobile account (In-fact, I’m hired specifically to deal with TMO requisitions). The volume was very high when we started the proceedings and we also need to act quickly, in order to be in the chase (Coz, we have to compete with multiple vendors). It has always been quality and quantity with quick turnaround is our agenda with T-Mobile. I work under Alexis and Kelsey most of the time and I also support a number of other accounts with our wonderful clients in the West Coast region.

Tell us a bit about yourself, how long have you been with Harvey Nash Group, what’s your background?

I did my Masters’ in Business Administration (MBA) from ICFAI University. I always have an interest in interacting with different departments and maintaining cordial relations with them, right from the college. This has made me inclined towards HR (specialization) in MBA. It has been 1 year 8 months and still counting with Harvey Nash.

On a personal note, I’m just a normal person wants to lead happy life with my family and friends and enjoy achieving milestones both personally and professionally.

What’s the biggest opportunity for your business right now?

We have been working with one of our clients for the past year and half, we have made a decent number of placements and were able to connect with many managers. We are planning to target different kinds of business, soon we will be exploring that.

…and what’s the biggest challenge?

When we are working for a VMS account, it’s always been a challenge to compete with multiple vendors. Sometimes, though the quality of the resume is outstanding we would not be able to get the anticipated response.

What are you looking forward to in the new year?

I’m looking forward to work for various accounts, variety of roles and close more deals. Wanted to take additional responsibilities, like Leading a team or Account Management.

And finally…

What’s on your playlist? Unstoppable – Sia, Dreamers – Jung Kook, Baby Shark (this is for my baby), Memories – Maroon 5, Hall of Fame and AR. Rahman hits

Hobbies: Cricket, Badminton, cooking and gardening (little bit).

Dream vacation: Wanted to visit Hollywood in Los Angeles, CA and Niagara Falls.

Tell us something we don’t know about you? I played professional cricket and represented Inter School, College and Company level Cricket teams.
